GTA 6 Wanted Level and Police: Six Stars, Focus Mode and How to Lose the Cops

What the icons under the stars mean

When you are wanted, small symbols appear under the stars. Each one shows something police have identified: your face, your clothing or your weapon. Security cameras can identify Jason and Lucia by their clothes, so a robbery on camera can follow you.

How to lose a wanted level (based on what's been shown)

1. Break line of sight first. Without cops on the minimap, use Focus to check where they are before moving.
2. Change your outfit. Keep a spare set of clothes in your car and swap once you are out of sight.
3. Ditch or holster the weapon they reported.
4. Switch vehicles if they saw yours.
5. Lie low. The preview showed the pair on the run for three days, with their appearance changing over time. Long chases have consequences.

The criminal profile

Separate from the stars, a criminal profile records how you behave in free roam. Efficient jobs earn a "good criminal" status; sloppy ones count against you. Rockstar has not said exactly what the profile unlocks.
