Privacy policy
GTA-6.forum ("we", "the site") is an independent fan site about Grand Theft Auto VI. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions or requests: use the support form.
What we collect
- Account: e-mail address, display name, password (stored only as a hash by our login provider), role, preferred language and theme.
- What you post: comments, likes/dislikes, community questions, support requests and replies, votes, checklist progress, notifications.
- Newsletter: your e-mail, language and the time you subscribed, if you sign up.
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting providers process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect against abuse; these logs are kept briefly.
- Statistics: we count page views without cookies and without identifying you.
We do not sell your data.
Why we use it
To run your account and the community features (legal basis: our contract with you), to send e-mails you asked for (consent; you can withdraw it at any time), to keep the site safe and to understand which guides are useful (legitimate interest), and to show ads (consent, see below).
Services we use
- Supabase (database, accounts, file storage; servers in the EU, Ireland).
- Cloudflare (hosting, file storage, bot protection with Turnstile, cookieless statistics).
- Vercel (hosting of test versions).
- Resend (sending e-mails).
- Google — Translate API (only guide texts, never personal data) and AdSense (advertising, see below).
- GitHub (encrypted database backups, kept for 30 days).
Some of these companies are based outside the EU; they work under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Cookies and local storage
- Necessary: a language cookie, your login session and your theme/view settings stored in your browser.
- Guests' checklist progress is stored only in your browser.
- Advertising: Google AdSense may use cookies to show and measure ads. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first through Google's consent message; you can change your choice at any time via the "Privacy and cookie settings" link on the page. You can also manage personalised ads at Google Ad Settings.
Polls, map and giveaways
- Polls: your vote is linked to your account so you can vote once; only aggregated results are public.
- Map: markers you mark as found and marker suggestions you send (with the place and text you enter).
- Giveaways: when you enter we store the country you choose, your 18+ confirmation, the rules version you accepted, which conditions you met, and a salted hash of your IP address (to catch multiple accounts; the IP itself is not stored). Winners also give a platform, nickname/ID and account region to receive the prize; this is deleted 30 days after the prize is sent, other giveaway data no later than 6 months after the giveaway ends. A winner's site nickname may be published.
How long we keep data
Account data — until you delete your account. Posts — until you or a moderator delete them. Newsletter — until you unsubscribe. Server logs — a few weeks. Backups — 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, object to its use, or withdraw consent. Write to us through the support form. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.
