Quick answer: Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026 and reached YouTube about six hours later. It was the first long look at real gameplay. The biggest reveals: a six-star wanted level, a Focus mode that replaces cops on the minimap, a criminal profile that remembers your face and clothes, Dead Eye-style aiming, instant switching between Jason and Lucia, and a long list of side activities.

Police and the wanted system
- Six stars are back. GTA V stopped at five; GTA VI goes up to six.
- No cops on the minimap. To spot police you use Focus, a new mode that highlights points of interest.
- The police know what they saw. Icons under the wanted stars show whether officers know your face, clothes or weapon. Outrunning them is not enough: change your look and lose the weapon.
- Store a change of clothes in your car and swap outfits while the search is on.
- Shop owners shoot back during robberies.

Your criminal reputation
A criminal profile tracks what you do in free roam. Clean, efficient crimes earn a "good criminal" status. Small actions count too: the preview showed throwing rubbish in a bin and petting a dog nudging your standing up, while a messy store getaway pushed Lucia's down.
Jason and Lucia
- Switching is instant when they are together and takes a few seconds when they are apart. You can switch during missions when the situation calls for it.
- The relationship is up to you. They start out wanting to be together, but your choices and the time they spend together decide where it goes.
- They change over time. Appearance shifts after events such as three days on the run, and the characters need to sleep.
- Home life: Jason grabs a beer from the fridge and watches TV, complete with in-game adverts.
Combat and driving
- Free aiming with a modern cover system for both characters.
- A slow-motion targeting mode similar to Dead Eye in Red Dead Redemption 2: target heads, hands and joints.
- In Raul Bautista's bank job the pair are the getaway drivers, and Jason shoots out police tyres to flip the chasing cars.
- Some car thefts start a lock-picking mini-game, according to creators who played a preview.
The open world
- Clues found while exploring lead to new missions, as in Red Dead Redemption 2.
- NPC interactions: hold the trigger to get conversation prompts.
- Crowds: some places, like a packed nightclub, are very dense.
- A 3D minimap shows models of nearby buildings.
- Fashion: outfits range from tank tops to suits and sequin dresses.
- An in-game social network lets you make things go viral.
Activities shown
Track, street and dirt bike races, car meets, jet skis, kayaking, fan boats, scuba diving, base jumping in central Vice City, basketball, backyard wrestling, pool, mini-golf, a zoo, a timed gun range and a gym that needs a membership. The full list is in Every GTA 6 Activity Shown So Far.

What we still don't know
The preview did not show GTA 6 Online, PC settings or the full map. Rockstar captured the footage on PS5 but did not say whether it was a base PS5 or a PS5 Pro.
